Good Sitting Posture
In our modern world, between school, work, and driving to and from those places… we’re pretty sedentary and it’s taking a toll on our bodies, especially our backs. So what’s the best sitting posture to keep your back healthy and happy?
Here are a few tips:
Sit back into your chair with your back straight and shoulders back
Distribute your weight evenly between both hips, and spread out across your buttocks and your thighs
Try to keep your pelvis from tilting forward or backwards by not sitting too far forward in your chair
Keep your knees lower than your hips and your feet flat on the floor
Avoid crossing your legs as this keeps your body from being properly aligned and can lead to low back pain
Try to get up and move around every 30 minutes or so. Staying still for too long can make your muscles feel tight and tense
Use a support cushion (pillow, rolled up towel, etc) for your lower back if needed
Try these out for good sitting posture and let me know how you feel!
